A promo code is a reusable discount — typically a free month, a percent off the first year, or a similar deal. Unlike a gift code (which is one person, one use), a promo code can be redeemed by many people, each on their own account.
Where to enter it
Same place as a gift code: in the app, open account settings and find the "Have a gift code?" field on the plan picker. Type or paste the promo code there. The app works out whether it's a gift code or a promo code from the code itself — you don't have to pick.
What the discount does
It depends on the code. Common cases:
- A free month on a specific plan.
- A percent off the first annual payment.
- A free trial extension.
The exact terms are set by whoever issued the code (us or a partner). You'll see what you're getting when you apply it, before any charge happens.
Spelling and case
Promo codes are case-insensitive — LAUNCH2026 and launch2026 are the same code. They're not whitespace-tolerant, though, so if you copied a code from an email and pulled in a leading or trailing space, the redemption will fail. If you get a "not found" message, retype the code by hand or trim the spaces.
Per-account vs. total limits
Two kinds of limits matter:
- Per account. Some codes can only be redeemed once per account. If you've already used the code, you'll see a message saying so.
- Total. Some codes have a maximum number of redemptions across all users — typically used for limited-time promotions. Once that limit is hit, the code stops working for everyone.
The error message will say which one tripped if it does.
Expiry
Every promo code has an expiration date. After that date, redemption fails with a clear "expired" message and you'll need to pick a plan and pay the standard rate. We don't extend expired codes — but new promotions come up periodically, so it's worth checking back.
If a code doesn't work
In order of likelihood:
- Typo. Retype it by hand.
- Leading or trailing whitespace from a copy-paste.
- Already redeemed on this account.
- Expired.
The error message in the app will tell you which one applies.
