You can delete one note, several notes, or your whole account. In every case the data disappears from the app immediately but sits in our database for a year before being permanently wiped — a safety net for accidental deletes.
Deleting a single note
Open the note from your history. Use the delete action on the menu (or swipe on the note in the list view). The note disappears from your history right away.
It also disappears from search and from the AI's answers — asking "what did I write about the dentist last Tuesday?" won't pull a note you just deleted.
What "immediately" actually means
Deleted notes are soft-deleted at first. They're hidden from you and from anything that reads your data — but the underlying record stays in our database for one year, then gets permanently wiped by an overnight sweep.
This is a safety net. If you delete the wrong note by accident on a Tuesday and notice three weeks later, the data is still recoverable. Past the one-year mark, it's gone for good.
Need it gone right now
If the safety net isn't what you want — sensitive information, a wrong recipient, a regrettable rant — contact support and ask for an immediate purge. We'll verify it's your account, then permanently delete the specific notes you list.
This is a manual process, so include enough detail for us to find what you're talking about (rough date, a phrase from the note, what the reminder was about).
Deleting your entire account
Open account settings → delete account. Confirm. The account is removed from the app immediately — you can't log back in.
Same soft-delete model as individual notes: the data is gone from the app and the AI, but the underlying records sit in our database for a year before the overnight sweep wipes them. If you change your mind in the first year and want everything brought back, contact support — we can restore an account that hasn't yet been swept.
Voice audio specifically
Voice audio (the actual recording, not the transcript) is handled separately from notes:
- On Defrag ($9/mo): audio is auto-deleted after thirty days regardless of anything else. The transcript stays in your history forever — only the audio file goes.
- On Archive ($15/mo): audio stays until you delete it or your account.
When a voice note's audio expires or you delete the note, the audio is gone immediately (no year-later sweep for audio).
Exporting before deletion
If you want a copy of your data before you delete the account — for personal archival, or to take it elsewhere — contact support. We'll produce a JSON export of your transcripts, reminders, structured data, and metadata.
The export usually arrives within one business day. Voice audio files come as a separate download.
What is not recoverable
Once the year-later sweep runs, your data is gone. We don't keep backups beyond that point. No restore, no "we still have a copy somewhere" — when we say permanently deleted, we mean it.
If you've cancelled your account and you're past the one-year mark, signing up again with the same email gives you a fresh, empty account. The old data isn't coming back.
