There's no password on Working Memory. You sign in with your email — we send you a link, you click it, you're in.

How it works

  1. Open the app and enter your email on the login screen.
  2. Tap Send link.
  3. Check your inbox. There's an email from us titled "Sign in to Working Memory".
  4. Tap the Sign In button in the email (or copy the link into your browser).
  5. The app opens to your composer. You're logged in.

That's the whole flow, both for signing up and for logging in afterwards. The first time you click the link, an account is created automatically. Every time after that, the same link just signs you back in.

Why no password

Passwords are work, and they don't actually make accounts safer when people reuse them across sites. A one-time link sent to the email address you already control is simpler and harder to steal — there's nothing to leak, nothing to reset, nothing to remember.

If you can get into your email, you can get into Working Memory.

On your phone? Use the code instead

If you requested the link on a phone and clicking the email link bounces you between apps in an ugly way, scroll down in the same email. There's a six-digit code printed there. Type it into the app's login screen and you're in.

The link and the code both expire after fifteen minutes. If you wait too long, request a new one.

If the email doesn't arrive

Give it a minute — email can take a moment, especially the first time. If it still hasn't shown up:

Still nothing? Get in touch with us — we can look up whether the email actually went out.

Using the same account on more than one device

Sign in with the same email on each device — your phone, your laptop, a tablet. It's all the same account. Everything you've captured shows up everywhere, no syncing to set up.

Logging out

Tap your initials in the top corner, then Sign out. Logging out signs you out of that device only. It does not delete anything you've captured. Sign back in with the same email and your full history is still there.

If you're handing your device to someone else, log out. The next person who opens the app won't see your memory.
